I meant to just skim through this book when I first opened it until later, but ended up reading the majority of it instead. I've been a Soaper for well over 20 years and this book hit on all my pet peeves regarding other soap books. My biggest being that other books just throw you the recipes and equipment lists and give little to no warnings about safety or running the recipes through calculators. Can't say that for this one. The author lists what's needed and why, giving suggestions and advice and bits of personal experiences. This book has a personal touch and is pretty well put together. I've enjoyed reading through it and will be adding this to my recommended reading list for other new soapers. The links and video provided in the book are also a very nice helpful touch.

This is definitely the Ultimate Guide to making and selling your own Natural Soaps.Everything is included, how to get started for the hot or cold processes, supplies to get, recipes for making the different types of soaps, ideas for making your soaps colorful & fragrant.Once made, you have directions for marketing and selling your collections of different soaps!This is the only guide you could need for starting a profitable soap business or just to enjoy making soap for gifts or personal use.

I've always found soap making super interesting. However, with all the chemicals, different processes, coloring techniques, fragrances, and confusing terminology, I never really felt like soap making was something I could do.After reading this book, I have totally changed my mind. It's comprehensive, in a logical order, through, full of pictures and recipes, and most importantly accessible to complete novices like me.I totally recommend this book to everyone, from the person who is just curious about the process to master soap artists. I always prefer natural and Organic soap as my skin is sensitive and get rashes if and when I use store bought soaps. This book covers all the necessary steps of what you will need to get started. Both the Hot and Cold process soap of making are well explained by the author. This book can be called as Encyclopedia of soap making.Specifically, I loved the recipe part, they are easy to follow, understand and easy to incorporate. Its simply superb.I will be trying Mellow Mocha soap soon. Images she used in the book are attractive and tempt you to try creating the same looking soaps.Steps explained are easy to follow. I am glad I got a good book. Worth the time I spent in reading.

I just loved this book. Hot and Cold process soap crafting by Molly Barrett is a foolproof guide to soap making, which include step-by-step how to make soap and choose essences. I have done some research into soap making and it seemed the more I research more confused I got. I am happy to say that this book cleared most of my confusion and I am ready to get started. I would recommend to everybody who loves soap making and also the ones who wants to start but don't know how to.

Book was brand new and in original packaging however there should have been a code that came with the book for their online site and that was not included. Other than the code not being included it met all expectations which is why I only rated 3 stars as that code is a big part of being able to take timed tests to practice for the exam

The password to quizzes is missing, the class has started and I have to drop out because it is not with the book

I studied with this book and the AHIMA CCA book and I passed!

This book prepare me for the CCA exam with speed to pass and to achieve my goal of passing the CCA exam under two hours. LUCKY ME.

As always there are wonderful animals that appear and these two pups, Zeus and Apollo, were found and taken in by Blaire. That in itself is a great part of the story!!Hold onto your seats (which you will not be able to stop once you begin this book!) and be entertained with suspense, characters that you just want to haul off and wallop for their devious plans, laugh out loud moments, tarradiddles, some tears and a beautiful love that cannot be denied.The epilogue at the end was beyond magnificent and although I loved every single story in this series, this has to be my favorite one. It brings all the family together and it does not get any better than that. Collette Cameron is one of my favorite authors and an amazing storyteller! I highly recommend anything she writes!!

The Lieutenant and the Lady is the culmination in Collette Cameron’s The Culpepper Misses series. It can be read as a stand-alone book, as with the others in the series.Blaire returns from school to rumors that Lieutenant Julian Drake, her long-time love, is courting someone. Worse yet, the ‘someone’ is his dead brother’s fiancé, Daphne. The rumors appear to be correct when they run into each other in a book store. This scene is written with Ms. Cameron’s usual wit and poignancy, and puppies.But what would motivate Julian to do such a thing? His brother had only been gone for a couple of months. Well, Daphne is pregnant so Julian feels he must do the noble act and give the child a father and his/her rightful inheritance. Daphne and her mother are determined to see this happen!A carriage accident ensues that leaves Julian with amnesia. Because he doesn’t remember anyone, he develops a ‘new’ relationship with Blaire, Daphne, and Mrs. Trudeau. He truly wonders how he ended up engaged to Daphne. The answers are quite surprising and full of intrigue!Throughout the horrible treatment from the Trudeaus’, Blaire maintains her composure and integrity. And the Trudeaus ultimately get their comeuppance, which was SO nice to see.If you love to hate villians, love a strong hero who follows his heart, and love puppies (who doesn’t) you will enjoy this book! There are laughs and tears and many good memories in between!

Blaire Culpepper and Lieutenant Julian Drake have fallen in love. Devastated to learn that Julian is to marry his deceased brother’s pregnant betrothed (duty and honor as he sees it), Blaire heads to the Culpepper country estate. At about the same time, Julian is also traveling to the country with Daphne Trudeau (his new intended) and her mother. When the top-heavy coach they rode in is blown over by a storm, Blaire rescues them, and they all end up staying in an inn together. As if this is not uncomfortable enough, when Julian regains consciousness, he doesn’t know who he is, where he is, where he was going and why, or the three women making a fuss around him. At this point this story gets very interesting.This story has quite a conundrum for our hero and heroine, but as they say, Truth will out. Blaire and Julian are great characters, and I love how they come to know each other again as he recovers his memory. The Trudeaus are an obnoxious pair of shrews with no redeemable characteristics. The kind of villains you really want to get what’s coming to them. The story is fast-moving and suspenseful. There are a few surprises, some happy, some sad. There is also a romance and humor. It is fantastic that when Blaire sends for help, the entire family shows up for her. A good story and a heartwarming epilogue make The Lieutenant and the Lady a must read.Five girls, five stories, all tied together to make an awesome series.

I have waited so long for this last story about one the last of the Culpeppers. This one is about the eldest twin who having just arrived back from America to d's out the man she loves is to wed another. As always the author's books is fantastic.

Collette Cameron has done it again with this amazing addition to the Culpepper Misses collection. Blaire and Julian are a couple in love who a being kept apart by two of the most despicable and scheming women everf written. The Trudeaus (mother and daughter) are so wicked it is a delight to see them get what they deserve. When a carriage accident occurs in front of Blaire's carriage she is surpirse to find that the passengers are the Trudeaus and Julian (supposedly going to his estate for a wedding between Daphne and Julian). Unfortunately, Julian's amnesia keeps then stranded at a local inn where Blaire nurses him back to help while she tries to get to the bottom of what scheme the Trudeaus are planning.The unveiling of the truth makes the Happily Evder After even batter and the epilogue manages to wrap up a happy ending for all 5 Culpepper misses.I received an advanced copy of this book.

About the Author

George McGovern served in the U.S. Senate for 18 years and was the 1972 Democratic candidate for president. He directed the first Food for Peace Program under President John F. Kennedy. A decorated World War II bomber pilot (Distinguished Flying Cross), he held a PhD in history from Northwestern University and taught at Dakota Wesleyan University. He was named by former president Bill Clinton in 1997 as the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organization. In 2000, he was awarded the nation's highest honor, the Medal of Freedom. He died in 2012 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 90.

My sister is a hopeless alcoholic. In reading a synopsis of this short work, I had hoped to develop a better understanding of the disease, along with possible strategies on how to deal with it. While the book is moderately educational in this respect, the case study of Teresa McGovern differs so substantially from that of my sister as to defy meaningful comparison.While McGovern is by all accounts a very good and nice person, who struggled mightily with depression as well as her addiction to drugs and alcohol, my sister is a bi-polar, paranoid schizophrenic who is brutally vicious and physically violent. Though they apparently share many of the same delusions of mistreatment and blame shifting, it is hard to relate the experiences of the two, and as a result, the usefulness of the book toward the purposes for which I purchased it are negligible.Of course, the book tracks Teresa's life through the prism of George McGovern's political career, and as a conservative, some of the gratuitous political pronouncements and backhanded, snide asides rubbed me the wrong way. In addition, as might be expected, McGovern is less than unbiased in much of his analysis, in effect blaming Madison police for failing to save his drunkenly unconscious daughter as she froze in a snow bank in a deserted, empty lot. He also takes a swipe at the University of Virginia for failing to admit his daughter into their college, despite what can only be described as a laughably spotty and less than stellar academic record. As you might expect, the book is filled with pop psychology, much of which is a stretch, at best.In any event, it is a sad case study of a remarkably damaged human being whose life was a virtual train wreck for most of the final thirty years of her life. I can't really say that it would be helpful for others faced with similar circumstances, since there are no effective solutions or resolutions. I'm sure that there are instances where such cases are effectively addressed and resolved, however this was certainly not one of them.

Gripping and poignant, I highly recommend this book if you want to learn more about the disease of alcoholism. A riveting read for those in recovery or struggling and a must read for families of alcoholics. How can such a beautiful person die alone in the snow? Because no alcoholic thinks it's going to happen to them when they take the first drink. Haunting and chilling, Terry is unforgettable.

This book was an incredible read. I was riveted from page one. Terry McGovern's death was such a senseless one. It serves to remind me that not all alcoholic deaths are due to cirrhosis(sp?) Alcohol can claim lives in the strangest of ways. Terry McGovern stumbled out of a bar and fell into a bank of snow, freezing to death. I still am shaken up when I think of this.George McGovern is a great writer but I gave the book 4 stars because his belief that he could have somehow prevented his daughter's death is unfathomable to me. I can't imagine what it must be like to lose a child, it must be the most painful thing in the world. This book feels like a catharsis for his grief and he expresses a lot of irrational thinking in his dealing with it. I don't think there's anything he could have done differently to prevent Terry's death and prolong her life. I'm sure it's little consolation to her parents but Terry is at peace now. I pray the family has come to grips with this tragedy in some way in the 10 years since Terry's passing.

Many Americans suffer from alcoholism. In the privileged world of the U.S. Senate, kids are introduced to it far more easily than in other, more traditional and restrictive environments. The McGovern marriage is honestly and painfully examined, as the parents search for help, for understanding, of this daughter's problem. The realities of alcoholism are presented as truthfully as I've seen (and I have practiced in mental health services, with a recovering alcoholic staff at one time). Fine book. Not happy, but honest and imporrtant.

This story holds a grip on me that I can't get over. Maybe I am like George McGovern myself in that I too can't explain what causes a beloved child in the family to grow up and self destruct. This story haunts me in that I am watching my own daughter at the age of 43 create similar suffering for every member of her family and friends who love her. I relate so strongly to the McGovern family on every page of this book, even to our own happy 50th wedding anniversary last year, that it frightens me based on Terry's tragic outcome just a year after the McGovern's celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. At the same time, I am so grateful for McGovern's advice as to what he would have done differently, especially in the last several months of Terry's life. I just bought several books for family members, and one to donate to a Milwaukee area hospital Women's Pavillion library that has every subject covered but alcoholism! This book documents one of the most heart rending accounts of alcohol addiction that I could ever imagine. Your tears may stain these pages, but Terry is continuing to help others, like me as she did in life through the courages words of her father.

Interesting read. A perspective on just how intractable an addiction can be. One truly wonders how it could be that Terry's many attempts at recovery never materialized . It seems the author searched desperately for an answer to the "cause" of his daughter's drinking in her above-average childhood and the normal ups and downs of relationships she experienced, common to most young adults.One is left with a lot of sad questions with no answers.

Excellent book. Should be required reading to remind people Addiction Is a Disease and All too Often Fatal! Do Not give up on your loved ones that are suffering. Educate yourself and Break the Cycle! Most often it is a FAMILY DISEASE that will destroy generation after generation due to addiction and Codependency.. a Must read. Great companion for LOVE FIRST.

One of THE most powerful books I have read on the topic of marriage restoration. Period. It is structured as a 90-day intensive therapy session, that will help anyone going thru marriage problems. If its not too late for you, I highly recommend that you stop what you're doing, and pick this book up! Do the lessons, and work out your issues before its too late. You won't regret it. This book is directed primarily to the believer, but anyone can use it-its down-to-earth, and very practical. The title says it all.

This book changed my life and my marriage. One of the most important things I took away was to communicate better, which seems like a no-brainer but the book really lit a light bulb. I now tell my husband how I appreciate him every day and realize that we're two different people and that requires me to communicate differently to him than how I would like someone to communicate to me. I know I'm not making the best case for this book, but it really opened my eyes and our marriage has improved markedly.

I ended up getting divorced but the book was good practice for next time i guess!

I am happy I picked this book to read. It’s a Christian based book about saving a marriage that God has joined together. I highly recommend it.

An excellent book. I would love to recieve in-person marital counseling from the author. My wife and I are going through the 90 day course right now. I can see and feel significant positive changes in our relationship and we aren't even a quarter of the way through the program. The couples devotional that he recommends using for couples time is also very helpful. Really makes me wish that we had sought out premarital counseling. Highly recommended!

As a (retired) marital therapist and husband of over 38 years, I view the content of this book as sound both psychologically and theologically. I agree with the author that even if the reader is not a Christian, he/she can benefit from applying the prinicples outlined throughout the book. My primary concern is that I wonder how many individuals and couples are spiritually and emtionally capable of navigating the prescribed exercises without the assitance of a therapist or discerning pastor. Also, I don't know what research supports this approach. In any event, this book provides a model for dealing with marital problems ranging from mild to severe. I parituclarly admire the author's stance on holding spouses who have commmitted "serious sins" which have severely impacted the marriage (e.g. adultery, addiction related behaviors) accountable in a highly structured way.Many marital self-help books and marital therapy textbooks have exercises designed to enhance caring behaviors, conflict resolution skills, and so on. In comparison, I'd say the exercises in this book - some are better than others - are overall worthwhile. Most of the sample written exercises reflected emotional maturity and insight which I suspect few people exhbit in the midst of martial turmoil. If you're not able to work through the marital issues outlined by Dr. Clarke on your own, again, consider enlisting the aid of a competent helping professional who shares your values. In turn, that professional would likely be comfortable with the basic approach outlined in this book, though he/she may not choose to adhere strictly to the book's approach

I really liked the "try this, try this, here's another idea, try this" approach in this book. I was only reading a few minutes when I had a lightbulb moment, put the book down and immediately went to my closet to implement one of the author's strategies and was able to finally let go of something that I had struggled to discard! Instead of suggesting a "one size fits all" step-by-step philosophy, this books offers lots of small, short tips to help you think through decisions about letting go. There are also sections on these topics: Make choices, Create order, Know Yourself, Cultivate Helpful habits, and Add beauty. I definitely recommend.

I read this book in a couple of hours today. It is on a topic very familiar to me, as I consider myself a (not strict) minimalist. It would have been extremely helpful to me about two years ago! It was a fun read.The book is primarily a collection of ideas to reduce physical clutter. If you are hoping to declutter, reading this book is a no-brainer. If you want your clutter to stay the way it is, you may not enjoy this book! If you are already a minimalist, you have read most of these ideas before.To address the two criticisms of the Amazon reviews thus far:1) This is not a novel or structured like Ms. Rubin’s previous books. It is arranged so that one may read straight through (as I have done) or select pages to read here and there. The personal anecdotes so common in her “happier” books are not as pervasive here.2) It’s unfortunate that a few reviewers’ copies arrived dirty/damaged, but this is not a true criticism of the book. Amazon would send a free replacement if asked, I would think.

While the book is structured around Gretchen Rubin’s five steps for decluttering and organizing, each page is a stand-alone, smart little tip. (Yeah, I absolutely should have “donated quickly” back in January rather than moving my giveaway pile into the basement!)"Outer Order, Inner Calm" is motivating because it’s realistic. For example, using the methods in "Outer Order," you can make some improvements to better your home even if you don’t have a lot of time. Also, the cleaning methods and checklists don’t rely on convincing your partner or family to “do their part.”I love that "Outer Order, Inner Calm" proposes long-term habit changes to maintain order, such as strategic shopping, repairing broken items, and adding beauty to your home. "Outer Order" also addresses work-life in addition to home-life (because work is a part of life!)If you’re interested in the KonMari method, "Outer Order, Inner Calm" is a great companion book. Both Marie Kondo and Gretchen Rubin agree that the ultimate goal is happiness! Personally, I like Marie Kondo’s “spark joy” concept, but I feel like part of the instructions are missing. (The KonMari method seems to be easier to implement on "Tidying Up," where the families can ask Marie Kondo questions to fill in the blanks!) "Outer Order, Inner Calm" diagnoses many of my ongoing clutter problems and gives concrete solutions. That pile of “not clean, but not dirty” clothes on the bedroom chair – put up a hook!I’d recommend "Outer Order, Inner Calm" to you if you like Marie Kondo but need more concrete and varied ideas on how to declutter, if other people rely on you to keep your home organized, if you want to declutter efficiently, or if you’re the type of person who needs an individual cleaning method.

I was expecting another book in Gretchen Rubin's chatty style on how to live a happier, and in this case, less cluttered life. Instead, this is bullet-point-style general info on decluttering. Marie Kondo does a better job of that. I'm returning it.

I love Gretchen Rubin and have all of her books. I thought I was getting a novel type of book but instead got snippets of calendar of the day wisdom for decluttering. It is a beautiful looking book but feel like it is nothing new and I got the cliff notes version and was hoping for actual content.

The writing of Rubin’s ideas & thoughts are well organized & easy to read, thus making it an enjoyable read. The material is accessible & I am motivated to apply Rubin’s ideas easily into my life! Not to mention the cover itself brings inner calm.

Love this book. Lots of good ideas and strategies. Funny, i already do some. This validates me. It has really opened my eyes to messes and clutter. The do it now is the best one. Thats the best time to do anything! Great work Gretchen. Very informative. Great read.

Received my copy earlier today, and for a new book, it sure looks beat up. The cover is a bit dirty, and the bottom corners/edges are warped and worn. Pretty disappointing. I do not think it is worth the time and effort to return it, though. Just expected the product itself to be in better shape. On the brighter side, I am looking forward to reading its contents (I have read and enjoyed Gretchen’s other works, and appreciate her insight.).
