This was an audio book for me. I really enjoyed the spin off from Motorcycle Man (Dream Man). Tabitha grew up in the MC life in the Dream Man series. This series begins with her as an adult and her relationship with Shy, a member of her father's MC.This story flowed just as smoothly as the first series. I probably would have enjoyed it more and would have given it 5 stars had I just read it and not had it as an audio book.

This could have been great. But frankly, the fact that Shy had the OW totally ruined this book for me. Through a series of events, Shy and Tabby finally start to spend time together after a number of years have gone by. If you've read Motorcycle Man then you know Tab had a crush on Shy when she was 16-17, but Shy nails every woman he sees apparently, while thinking that Tab is out of bounds. Now, about 6 or so years later, they start talking and hanging out together. Now here's the part that ruined it for me. It turns out that one month after they start hanging out, he starts hooking up with the OW. So while Tabby thinks they are starting to build something, he is out smexing this OW. And I repeat, ONE MONTH after he basically reunites with Tabby. Now of course he says he didn't think she'd ever go there with him. But he can't go without smex for longer than a month, apparently. So after several months Tabby finally gets it together and figures out that she wants Shy, and when he asks her how long she needs to get her head together, she says two hours. He goes back to his apartment and scrapes off the OW. When Tabby comes over after the two hours, they have smex. Maybe it's just me, but that really disgusted me. As usual in this trope, the OW was just a placeholder. The rest of the storyline was OK, nothing to write home about though. Because we are talking about the Chaos MC then there are issues with drugs and such. There are also issues with Tabby's father, Tack, who is Prez of the MC. Shy of course has brought all of the relationship problems on himself because of his man-ho activities, and the MC members all know about the OW too. So once again, the inability of a supposed H to keep it In his pants causes lots of problems. As I said, this could have been great. But adding in the OW ruined it. This could have been much better if he started demonstrating how he could prove his love and devotion by actually waiting for Tab. Now THAT would have shown that he really wanted to change. And improved the storyline...

3.5 I Dreamed a Dream StarsHave you read Motorcycle Man? If the answer is no…STOP now. Do not pass go, do not collect two-hundred dollars because even though this says Chaos #1 I think your enjoyment will be dramatically reduced without that foundation. At least for me Shy would have had an unsurmountable deficit to overcome if I hadn’t spent time in the Chaos compound and had a little history going into this.ShyLet’s say that Shy IS a D. O. double Gee. He apparently takes women whose names he can’t remember to bed, often more than one at a time and when we first get a glimpse of him here he is asleep under a few Chaos hoochies when he gets called out to go reel in Tabby and get her home. Shy thinks maybe she needs a lesson one only he can teach her.****Hopefully, in about two seconds, she’d be a lot more than kinda freaked out. She’d be scared straight and out of this bullcrap she kept pulling. Therefore, two seconds later, he yanked her into his room, tugged her to a stop and flipped the light switch. The two women were still naked, lying head to foot on the bed, having, since he was gone, tangled with each other. Briefly, he tried to remember their names.***You think he’d stop there but nope….***“But you… you made assumptions. You showed you decided exactly the kind of girl I was that night when that guy took his hand to me without knowing one single thing about me. I wasn’t what you thought, Shy. I didn’t need your crap and I also didn’t deserve it. Family doesn’t make judgments. They talk. They support. You made a judgment. You acted on that judgment. You doing it hurt me so that means you are not my family.”***And even after he has seen some stuff and realized that he has never felt anything for anyone like Tabby felt for the man she lost when he gets her call late at night for some help…***“Get her butt up. Both of you need to get dressed and get gone.” He reached into the nightstand and grabbed his gun, shoving it into the back waistband of his jeans and pulling his tee over it. “You got fifteen minutes to get out. You’re not gone by the time I get back, I will not be happy.”“Sure thing, babe,”***Who are these hoochies that are happy to have threesomes with a guy that throws them out right after???And at this point I’m thinking Shy you are a complete douchecanoe and I’m not sure I’m ever going to like you. It is a pretty big hole even for KA to dig an alpha out of. But she did it!!!Thank goodness that most of the OTT jerkface things happen in the first 15% but still I’m not one to be gung ho for a leading man that can’t even remember the names of the women he is sleeping with still what it comes down to is that KA makes me believe that Shy was miserable in the life he had before Tabby and she was his wake up call he just never thought he’d deserve her.TabbyTack’s only little girl grew up a Chaos princess. She has been around the hard life of the brothers for most of her life and she knows what happens with some of the brotherhood. She fell in love with a man outside that life and was ready to give him everything until a tragedy stuck and she lost her man and her dream. Shy was there for her in a way no one else could be and he brought her back from that depression and the hole that was left in her heart. However when she falls for Shy, the notorious hound dog, it leads to one of the best Adult to Child coming of age blow-outs I’ve ever read. Tack and Tyra are an alpha couple all the way so it took some doing for Tabby to show them she isn’t a little girl anymore and I LOVED the entire thing. Seriously this book was worth reading just for that conversation between Tabby and Tyra and then Tabby and Tack. She is a strong woman who will not be told who she can or can’t fall in love with and I totally love that about her.***“You know you’re Dad’s one-and-only, Tyra, and if you don’t know this, seeing as he had kids before he met you, I’m sorry to tell you but even though you’re his one-and-only now, you weren’t his one-and-only.”Her head jerked, she flinched, and I finally saw it. Understanding.“You feel me,” I said softy. “I get I’m not Shy’s one-and-only but I still… freaking… am.”***Go Tabby you stand up for your man.Shy and TabbyThis is really more of a love story than most of KA’s books. There is some building tension with a new player in the drug game that is trying to get into Chaos territory and some trouble with one of Tabby’s no good friends from high school but for the most part this is just a story about Tabby and Shy finding their way to one another and learning how to accept the other for who they are.The biggest confrontation is when Tabby and Shy are found out and there are repercussions with the members of Chaos. Shy did some stuff in this that totally redeemed him with me.❶ - He apologized for some of the things he said to Tabby when she was younger and for treating her like he did when he judged her and thought he was helping.❷ - Shy totally stood up for Tabby and even though some of the boys think it is cool to boss their old ladies around, Shy doesn’t play like that.***“Tab and I don’t play it that way. You wanna order your old lady around, do what you do, not for me to say. I asked her to go, she didn’t go. Not gonna make her. But you try, you’ll deal with me.”***❸ - Once Shy decided on Tab he was all in, all the way and never looked back.***“Waited for you for four years, Tabby, baby. Four. Spent a lot of that time thinkin’ I’d never have you. Now I got you, not even for a day, I’m not big on lettin’ you go. Give me that for now, yeah? Make your calls here.”***❹ - Even though I want to be “no I can take care of myself” I love the way that Shy tries to look out for Tabby and take care of her and her problems, even if it isn’t exactly the way she would want him too.OverallI like being in the biker world. It is a fun place to visit and although it is a harder life than I’d like in the real world in my fantasy world it totally works for me.

On the whole, I enjoy many of Ashley's books, but they tend to have the same storyline. This book was campier than some of her others and just too formulaic. Everything down to the pet names the characters had for each other, just seemed forced. The one factor that doesn't seem to change with Ashley's books is that her male leads are VERY sexually active. I still do not understand why this is an attractive quality in someone. Shy slept with everyone!!!! Why is that remotely attractive? He barely got rid of the last girl before taking up with Tabby. While I like some of the writing, this book just barely got a pass from me. I need a break from this author for a while, I think.

I read the whole book and really tried hard to give it a chance. The author describes thing almost too much and just kept going on and on and on. Story was so dragged out that I kept looking to see what page I was on because it took forever. I usually fly through books...especially MC romance books but this one I had to force to finish and kept reading. I recalls regret buying the book (which I NEVER) say. The whole storyline of the main characters going back and forth and back and forth and blah blah blah was just boring and unrealistic. Everything was described too much so that you lost the storyline of the book or even what was happening. Definitely do not recommend.

What a fun and mouth-watering way to soak up some local history, along with why we Iowans eat the things we do. Darcy Maulsby discusses they whys and hows of Iowa foods from our Native Americans and Lewis and Clark to Iowa State University and Dr. Norman Borlaug. She mentions so many local favorites from Jolly Time Popcorn to Younkers Tea Room recipes (chicken salad and my favorite Rarebit Burgers), and immigrant recipes like Czech/Bohemian Kolaches to newer ones such as Strawberry Pretzel Squares. Who knew there's even a John Wayne Casserole!

I really enjoyed this book. It is a bit of Iowa history, cooking, and also a travelogue of places to visit in Iowa. One can just pick it up, open it up to any page and enjoy a 2 or 3 page discussion of Iowa people and places and the particular food that they might have brought from their native land. So far, I have ordered more copies to give away to a friend and one son

This book, by a 'local author' met all my expectations and then some --- she did such an excellent job of researching the history of foods in our state and weaving it all together in a most enjoyable, readable fashion and the pictures were excellent. Particularly the one of the bowl of chili with the cinnamon roll. Just sayin'.

This is a lovely book; researched well and witten in a light hearted but professional manner. It makes a great gift.

This is a must-read for anyone who is remotely interested in Midwestern cuisine, with a focus on the great state of Iowa. Whimsical stories, some recipes and interesting photos. This would make a great gift for not only someone who cooks, but also anyone interested in Iowa's roots.

very pleased

Amazing facts about Iowa, food, and farmers.

so complete...loved it!
